Biography and Christian Testimony
I, Nabil, was born in Afghanistan. My wife, Zainab, and I were married in 2010 and have two children: Mojib and Salman.
Although we do not hold university degrees, we spent our childhood and teenage years studying in religious schools. I have always been interested in volunteer activities, especially in supporting children, women, and ethnic and religious minorities. After migrating to another city, I voluntarily cooperated with various organizations working in support of children and women and in reducing urban inequality.
For three years, I volunteered with an organization active in supporting children and women. During this time, I became acquainted with another organization that was established in Afghanistan in 2002 as a non-profit organization by Afghan volunteers and international Christians, working in the fields of health, agriculture, and development for the welfare of the Afghan people. My wife and I were active members of this organization and received support letters from them.
had previously been familiar with Christianity, but living in this new city opened a new chapter in my life. Through Ms. N and Ms. P, Christian-American missionaries, I was invited to Christianity and was baptized in 2021.
After Following Christ
Our decision to accept Christianity was the result of deep personal reflection and our life experiences. We witnessed widespread violence against women and children, inequality among people, dishonesty, and hypocrisy in society. Most importantly, we struggled with certain religious interpretations that justify hostility or jihad against non-Muslims and do not grant full religious freedom to followers of other religions—especially under the current rule of the Taliban, where religious minorities face severe restrictions and serious dangers. In contrast, in Christianity we found a message of love, forgiveness, equality, and peace that deeply resonated with our conscience and human values.
I was extensively involved in promoting and sharing the Christian faith in Afghanistan. With respect and through distributing brochures, I introduced people to the Christian faith. E.g: I invited brother Khan. These activities were impactful, and many families came to faith. We distributed Bible chapters and pamphlets among the people and invited individuals through phone calls.
My wife Zainab and I completed multiple training courses as evangelists in Afghanistan. We aspired to be pioneers of evangelism. We were joyful to guide people toward light and truth, and we pray that God continues to help us in this path.
After the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban on August 15, 2021, the underground church and gathering place of believers was looted, and all documents and office equipment were stolen. Those associated with the church fled, and we also sought refuge in Pakistan. Until now, we have continued our evangelistic activities in Pakistan and have invited more than twenty Afghan families to Christianity and baptized them.
Life for religious minorities in Pakistan is difficult, and if identified, families like ours may face severe punishment. To maintain our safety, we have changed our place of residence four times.
My wife and I receive daily online Bible education and participate in various training courses. We respectfully request support from governments and organizations that defend the rights of minorities in order to protect our lives and the lives of our children, Mojib and Salman.
As an Afghan-born Christian living in Islamabad, I have received a UNHCR Asylum Seeker Certificate. We have also received letters of appreciation and various certificates from Christian organizations in Afghanistan and Pakistan in recognition of our activities.
Though it is very hard these days, It is all for these speeches that we stand strong and feel free.
