A Sisters’ Testimony
Journey to Following Jesus
Hello we are Azyan (34) and Sador (26). We were born in Afghanistan. Our family has 6 children. We had a good and a protected childhood. Our mother was at home caring for everyone, preparing food and being a homemaker. Our father and mother are kind people and they gave us the freedom for studies and work. Asiah had a shop where ladies came for beauty treatments. And I, Sador, was trained as a teacher for primary school. The money I earned helped me attend college for two years, studying economics and management.
We had to leave our family and home because something really terrible happened. Our brother was killed by the Taliban because he would not allow the Taliban to force us to be their wives. This was such a shock to our family, and caused us so much fear so our family fled for our safety. Our brother was such a kind and helpful man. He was very open and a free-thinker. He would often walk with us places to protect us. All of my family were heartbroken over his death. The trauma from this event still impacts our emotions and health. We are praying for God’s healing and help in our lives to move forward from all this trauma and pain.
No one wants to leave home, but we had no choice to not be forced into marriage with the Taliban. We fled to Greece. After our brother was killed we found Christian material in his personal items. Part of the reason we are Christians was because of the strong, loving witness of our murdered brother. Somehow the decision was made that we would go to Switzerland. Greece was not an easy place for us to live as two young women alone.
The journey continues
In Switzerland, we lived in five different camps over the course of a year and nine months. It was very difficult and some of the camps were not good living conditions. It became hard to sleep and feel safe for us. We were harassed in our interrogations about being a refugee and after this we were deported back to Greece on June 26, 2024.
God gave us some really good Swiss friends. They helped us in many ways and came to visit us. We studied the Bible together. Jesus is everything to us. We also had a good church in Switzerland and people who loved us, but the government didn’t allow us to stay. Azyan was suppose to be baptized July 7th.
We arrived back in Greece and thanks to our Swiss friends, they arranged for an American lady to helps us. We lived with her for 10 days before moving into a Greek church housing project for refugees. We are currently taking English lessons and attending Bible studies. We have hopes and dreams for our future. I would love to attend Bible school and have opportunities to go back to university. My sister, Asiah also has hopes and dreams. She enjoys cooking, painting and learning English. We both want to serve the Lord and help others understand His love and forgiveness.
We don’t understand why all these bad things happened in our lives, but we are choosing to trust God for a way forward. His Word says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 We are waiting, praying and seeking our good, good Father’s plans for our lives.
“It became hard to sleep and feel safe for us.”

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this the world will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
